Verify Office Files Were Modified

If you are having problems with the Setup Assistant failing, you can check to see if you have a proper install.

A bad install could result if Office has been modified (for example, like after running Monolingual ) . See Dos and Don'ts for a good install.

Users are reporting that they do not have the Plugins folder in the application much less the items in that should be in that folder. The Microsoft Office Setup Assistant cannot/will not assume that you have a proper install of Office and will quit.

If your install is bad, see Steps for a successful upgrade of Office 2008

  1. Select the Microsoft Office Setup Assistant

    1. Control + Click from the contextual menu choose "Show Package Contents".
    2. In the window that appears you will see a folder called "Contents", and in that is one called "PlugIns", and in that folder is an item called SLT.bundle - please click on SLT.bundle.
    3. When you find SLT.bundle, please control + Click and from the contextual menu choose "Show Package Contents".

      Package contents of SLT.bundle:
    4. Open the Resources folder. You will find the various lproj folders. Please make sure that each lproj folder has the following four items in it (they should all have the same date): Localizable.strings, License.rtf, License_error.rtf, InfoPlist.strings.
