Using iPod with Entourage

  1. How do you drag .vcf files from entourage to iPod's contract folder?
  2. Add Entourage calendar events to the Calendar folder on the iPod.
  3. Use iPod to synchronize your mail.
  4. Use Entourage to transfer contacts from iDataPro to the iPod.

1) How do you drag .vcf files from Entourage to iPod's contract folder?

Connect your iPod to your computer and set your iPod preferences (in iTunes) to mount the iPod on your desktop as an external device (something to that effect). When you double-click on the iPod's icon on the desktop, you'll see a folder inside called Contacts. Copy the .vcf files into that folder.

2) Add Entourage calendar events to the Calendar folder on the iPod

Using the same method to drag .vcf files to iPod, you can drag calendar events into the Calendar folder on the iPod.

3) Use iPod to synchronize your mail

To facilitate email parity between office and home machines, keep your 'Microsoft User Data' folder on your iPod.

Tip: If you can't dismount the drive after closing out all Microsoft Office Program, be sure to 'Turn Off Office Notifications' from the Entourage menu. Choosing this option, then quitting Entourage will 'let go' of the folder and allow you to safely dismount the media.

4) Use Entourage to transfer contacts from iDataPro to the iPod.

If you use iDataPro and Entourage and want to transfer your contacts to the iPod, you can export the iDataPro contacts as a tab deliminated file and use Entourage to import that file. Entourage can import tab-delimited text files. You can then drag the contacts out of Entourage as .vcf files and into the iPod's Contacts folder.
