Download updates from Office Mac or use AutoUpdate under Help in the menu bar. More Info on updates

Start typing in the "To" line and the Most Recently Used list will start filling in the contact info.

I suggest turning off the mini-address book by clicking on on the Address Book icon. I find it just gets in my way.
