Auto Respond

Alternate way to set up an email auto responder that only hits email addresses the first time a message is sent rather than every time mail is received.

Create an address book group for the people who you have auto-responded to already, then in the rule check to see if the address is in the group. If not, respond then add it.

The 'do not apply other rules' should be unchecked, or all your mail is going to end up in the Inbox.

Caution: Use this rule carefully! When I made the example I did not intend to use the rule. I did not add recipients to the group nor did I uncheck "Enable" while I was making my photo of the rule. During this brief period, My sample text was sent to three different lists before I discovered the problem. Be careful what you write, it might come back to bite you. :-)
